Standard Vacuum Oil Purifier (VOP Series)
On-line / off-line purification for hydraulic, turbine & lube oils
Removes particulate, water and dissolved gas. NAS 6, water down to 50 ppm.
- NAS 6 cleanliness with water at or below 50 ppm
- Dehydrated below 100 °C, so the oil is dried and not cooked
- Treats the oil in service, not a drained charge

What it removes
The VOP series takes out the three things that end the life of a hydraulic, turbine or lube oil charge: free and emulsified water, dissolved gas, and particulate down into the fine range. Treated oil leaves the unit at NAS 6 cleanliness with water at or below 50 ppm. That is the point at which a mineral oil stops promoting corrosion and stops losing film strength under load.
How it works
Oil is heated under vacuum and spread into a thin film. Chamber pressure sits far below the vapour pressure of water, so water boils off at a temperature well under 100 degrees C and the oil is dehydrated without being cooked. Dissolved gases leave with the water vapour. A fine filter downstream of the vacuum chamber catches the particulate the water carried in. The low working temperature is what lets the unit treat oil that is still in service rather than a drained charge.
Where it is used
Three jobs cover most of the installed base. A steel plant with water ingress into its hydraulic oil runs the unit off-line while the mill keeps working. A power station with a leaking turbine shaft seal treats No.46 turbine oil in place instead of replacing the charge. A gear oil that had drifted past its reuse limit is brought back to specification instead of being written off.
Options and service
Trailer-mounted and stationary frames. On-line connection to the reservoir, so the machine keeps running while the oil circulates. Spare element sets, commissioning and operator training on site.
Common questions
What cleanliness and water content does the VOP series reach?
NAS 6 cleanliness with water at or below 50 ppm. At that level a mineral oil stops promoting corrosion and holds its film strength under load.
Does the oil have to be drained before treatment?
No. The unit connects to the reservoir and treats the oil in service, at a working temperature low enough not to degrade it.
What do you need in order to quote one?
Oil type and viscosity, system volume, target cleanliness and water content, and the power supply and floor space available.
Tell us about your application
Oil type, viscosity, flow rate, target cleanliness, water content, on-site power and space constraints. The more specific you are, the sharper the proposal.
