FM-100 Intelligent High-Viscosity Series
Built for 320# industrial gear oil & oil-film bearing oil
Purpose-built for very high-viscosity industrial gear oils and oil-film bearing oils. Strong heating and vacuum performance.
- Sized for 320 grade, not a light oil with the heater turned up
- Deep vacuum, because a 320-grade oil holds its water tightly
- Insulated pipework to the reservoir, with the heater on independent over-temperature protection

What it removes
Water, gas and particulate from 320-grade industrial gear oil and oil-film bearing oil. At that viscosity the problem is not the contamination, it is getting the oil into a state where the contamination can be removed at all: the oil has to be hot enough to flow thinly and the vacuum has to be deep enough to pull water out of a fluid that holds it tightly.
How it works
Heating is the front half of the design and the vacuum system is the back half. The oil is brought up to a temperature where its viscosity is low enough for the water to migrate to the surface and evaporate, and the chamber is pumped to a pressure that makes that evaporation happen in the available residence time. Both halves are sized for 320-grade rather than for a light oil with the heater turned up -- which is the difference between a machine that works on this grade and one that is nominally rated for it.
Where it is used
Oil-film bearing systems and heavily loaded gearboxes: oil-film bearing oil in a steel mill that separated 2.2 tonnes of water in a single day and oil-film bearing oil carrying free water. Both are high-viscosity circuits where a lighter-duty purifier would either stall or take weeks.
Options and service
High-capacity heater with independent over-temperature protection. Insulated pipework to the reservoir, because on a 320-grade circuit the heat loss in the hoses is not trivial. Spare heater elements held on site.
Common questions
What is different about 320 grade?
The problem is not the contaminant but getting the oil into a state where the contaminant can be removed: hot enough to flow thin, under vacuum deep enough to pull water out of a fluid that holds it tightly.
Why insulate the pipework?
On a 320-grade circuit the heat loss in the hoses is not trivial, and it decides whether the oil reaches temperature at the reservoir or not.
Is the heater protected?
Yes — high power with independent over-temperature protection, and heating elements are kept on site as spares.
